BOOK BOOTHS

READ. BROWSE. DISCOVER. CONNECT.

A book fair is only as alive as the people, stories, and publications inside it. For Thai Queer Bookfair, we are bringing together publishers, independent studios, galleries, and community-led publishing projects from across Thailand and Southeast Asia. Queer literature does not have to look one particular way. It can be a novel, a poem, an artbook, a magazine, a handmade zine, an experimental publication, or a collection of stories made by a reader themselves. Come browse.

Find something unexpected. Meet the people behind the books. Buy something from an independent publisher or artist.

Start a conversation. And yes, you can absolutely leave with too many books.

BODHISATTAVA GALLERY

Artbooks / Magazines / Independent Publications / Experimental Writing / Contemporary Poetry

Bodhisattava Gallery is an LGBTQ+ art space founded by artist Oat Montien, with a focus on creating visibility and opportunities for LGBTQ+ artists, particularly from Southeast Asia. The gallery takes its name and conceptual inspiration from the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, associated with compassion and understood through a gender-fluid lens. For Thai Queer Bookfair, Bodhisattava Gallery brings the world of artist-led publishing into the bookfair: artbooks, magazines, experimental writing, contemporary poetry, and independent publications that move between visual art and literature. Expect publications that document artistic practices, queer lives, contemporary culture, and ideas that do not always fit neatly into a traditional publishing category. Come for the artbooks. Stay for the publications you didn’t know you needed.

LADYS & MOONSCAPE

Queer & Non-Binary Literature

Ladys & Moonscape is a Thai independent publishing house founded by two Thai writers, Ladys and Moonscape, with a clear mission: to bring queer characters into the centre of Thai literature, across genres and forms. Their own description is wonderfully direct: LGBTQAIN+ characters can be protagonists, no matter what genre the story belongs to. Their catalogue moves across literary fiction, gothic, fantasy, romance, short stories, dystopian fiction, and other forms of storytelling. Their books include works by both founders, alongside publications that make queer and gender-diverse lives central rather than peripheral to the story. If you are looking for queer literature that says queer people can be the part of any story, start here.

P.S. PUBLISHING

Contemporary Thai Literature / Queer & Diverse Voices

P.S. Publishing is an independent Thai publisher with a strong catalogue of contemporary writing and a reputation for amplifying women’s and LGBTQ+ voices. Its approach has helped make space for stories and perspectives that have often been underrepresented in mainstream Thai publishing. At the fair, P.S. Publishing brings together contemporary Thai literature that explores relationships, identity, desire, everyday life, and the complicated politics of being a person in the world. Their catalogue is a good reminder that queer literature does not have to be separated from contemporary literature. Queer stories are part of Thai literature right now. Come browse for something tender, messy, strange, romantic, political, or all of the above.

SE-RI STUDIO

Zines / Independent Publications / Queer Artists from Thailand & Southeast Asia

Se—ri Studio is a creative space, zine shop, library, and print community in Bangkok founded by three friends: Pin Panita Siriwongwan-ngam, Rada Musikaratt, and Thian Preechaya Ostanont. Their practice grew partly from their experiences engaging with queer Asian creative communities in the UK, which they brought back into a Thai context. Se—ri centres queer, feminist, ESEA, independent publishing, and print culture, with a carefully selected collection of handmade books and independent publications by artists from Thailand, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. The studio also works with Risograph printing and supports zine-making as a way for people to publish outside conventional publishing structures. At Thai Queer Bookfair, expect zines, artist publications, small-press editions, handmade books, and unexpected little pieces of printed culture. Small books. Big feelings. Independent publishing.

MADFEMINIST BOOK CLUB

Feminist Reading / Media / Community / Conversations

MADFEMs Book Club is a group of friends who share feminist values and come together to build a community around reading, watching, making, and talking from a feminist perspective. Their interests go far beyond books. The club creates space to engage with novels, short films, films, crafts, and other forms of media through feminist ways of thinking and seeing. For MADFEMs, the point of having a feminist book club is about creating a space where anger, questions, laughter, and hope can sit at the same table. At Thai Queer Bookfair, MADFEMs brings that spirit of collective reading into the festival. Come meet friends, talk about books, exchange thoughts, disagree a little, laugh a lot, and discover what happens when reading becomes a social practice.

Asiabooks

asiabooks

Asia Books Co., Ltd. is Thailand's first and largest English-language bookstore chain, importer, and distributor. Founded in September 1969, the company began as a single shop in Bangkok catering to English-speaking Thais, expatriates, and tourists, quickly making a name for itself with titles focused on Thailand and Southeast Asia

GIRLIES POP READS

Register Station / Thai Queer Short Stories / Emerging Queer Writers

This is our own little corner of the bookfair. At the Girlies Pop Reads station, you can register for the festival, discover our publishing projects, and pick up Thai Queer Bookfair Is Sexy, a short story collection featuring writing by Thai queer writers from our writing programme. Girlies Pop Reads is a queer literary and cultural collective creating spaces for people to read, write, gather, and connect through books and storytelling. Through our writing programmes, we work with emerging writers and create opportunities for new queer voices to be read, published, and discovered. Come by to discover writers you might not have heard of yet, find a new favourite story, and support the next generation of Thai queer literature. And yes, you can come say hi to the people who have been making this whole bookfair happen. Register here. Discover new writers. Read something queer.

QUEER SHORT STORIES COLLECTION CURATED TABLE

QUEER SHORT STORIES, CURATED BY YOU

Hosted by Se—ri Studio, the Curated Table invites you to make your own little queer anthology. We’ll bring together a selection of Thai queer short stories around a soft radical theme: stories that might be tender, strange, funny, intimate, political, romantic, messy, or quietly rebellious.Choose the stories that speak to you. Curate them into your own collection. Make your own little book and take it home. This is a tiny publishing experiment. Because sometimes building queer literature starts with something very simple: finding a story you love and wanting someone else to read it too.
